Turning your passion into a business

The dictionary defined passion as a strong and barely controllable emotion. It’s also defined as a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm or desire for anything.

In the context of a relationship with a loved one. Passion is a person toward whom one feels strong love or sexual desire. As a matter of fact in the book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill says love and especially sex is one of the most compelling desire that drives business leaders and entrepreneurs to succeed. 

Passion as referred in this book is what you have a great desire for. This should be self evident to you based on what takes most of your thinking time, active time and even where you spend your resources.

Your passion is that thing you would love to do with the remaining part of your life if you had all the money you need to survive. In identifying your passion, ask yourself who are you secretly or openly most jealous of? Who do you admire the most and why? This will give you a clue to your passion.

Develop the idea from your passion

Now, you know what that compulsive desire of yours is. You have identified your drive, and then you have got to develop the idea off it.

A passionate musician could have an idea to produce an album or to be a performer at events or to even do both. These are all ideas off a passion. A passionate cook could want to open a restaurant or could just want to cook for people at home or events. These are all ideas.

Sit down and create an idea off your passion.

Get the right skills

Yes you have the talent and a great passion and of course some latent skills. You need to fine tune the talents by getting the right skills.

Your present skills needs to be sharpened to make it more attractive to a larger audience. No matter how beautiful a lady is to be a model, she’s got to learn etiquette and grooming, to maximize her beauty and to be appreciated more.

Find a platform

You have identified your passion and have got the right skills to give finesse to your passion.  Then you have got to go seek out for credible and uplifting platforms that will take you to great heights and give you maximal promotion.

This could be taking up apprenticeship under an authority in that field, sharing your talent to a select audience for a fee or even for free at the beginning. It entails getting out of your own world and connecting to a larger world.

Also as you engage on this platform, do ensure to surround yourself with smart people with different skills.

Identify your investment cost

Having identified your passion and gotten a platform to reach out. You have got to identify investment needed to launch it. Are you renting a space? Purchasing equipments? Hiring staff?

In making the above decisions you must know what is going to be the return on each investment, is it worth it? Do not be afraid to start small but do plan to get big.

Create and promote the brand

Your brand is your distinct identity. It makes you stand out amongst others in the same field with you. It’s your differentiating factor.

Therefore, you must define, enhance and consistently express your entity identity to your target market. It helps to create a logo, signature of sorts, print complimentary cards, design a website. Promoting your brand consistently puts you in the minds of your prospects and ensures steady stream of customers to you.

Reinvest, keep learning, have fun and stick with it

As you earn income, do ensure to reinvest your profits in expanding the business to ensure growth and sustainability.  Even if you are having a rough time know that you are in your learning phase and so have fun and be persistent with the business.
